The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has quizzed the Director General of the Security and Exchange Commission, Arunma Oteh, over her role in the N40 million bribery allegation she levelled against the House of Representatives.
Oteh had during a hearing on developments in the capital market accused the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market and other Financial Institutions, which has since been dissolved, Honourable Herman Hembe, of witch hunting her because she failed to accede to the House’s request for a N40 million bribe.
Oteh, it was learnt, was quizzed along with three other staff of the SEC.
Hembe has also been quizzed by the EFCC.
Some staff of the National Assembly have also appeared before the EFCC.
Hembe resigned as the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market and other Financial Institutions in order to pave the way for an unimpeded investigation of the allegation.
Another committee has since been set up.
