Two-time African champions, the Super Eagles, may have to wait a little longer to know their opponents in the qualifiers for the AFCON 2017 finals as the Confederation of African Football postponed the exercise to April.
Traditionally, the draw for the qualifiers for the next Nations Cup is done the day before the final of the current tournament.
But this time, the Confederation of African Football is saving it for its congress in Cairo, Egypt from April 7 to 8.
The congress will also decide the host nation for the 2017 tournament, which was supposed to be in Libya.
Libya has since withdrawn because of the ongoing conflict in the country.
Instead Algeria, Egypt, Gabon and Ghana are on the shortlist to host the event.
The 52 entrants will be divided into 13 groups containing four sides each, with the top team in each pool advancing to the finals, as well as the two best runners-up.
The exception will be the group of the host country, from which only one team will be eligible to advance.
The qualifiers for the 2017 Nations Cup will start in June.
