Osun State Government has appealed to residents to resist being used or influenced by some people to disrupt the peace of the state.
The state government, through an announcement by the state Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, also called on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards not to allow themselves to be used for violence.
The statement said: “The state government of Osun once again implores the people of the state to avoid allowing unscrupulous violent elements to take advantage of them to disrupt our peace and set the state ablaze.
“Our lives are gradually returning to normal after the recent destructive disruption, but some people are determined to bring more trouble to the state by inciting some citizens, especially Okada riders (commercial motorcyclists), against the government.
“The state government has commenced the profiling and registration of commercial motorcyclists in the state, but those who have been using them for criminal activities feel threatened by the registration.
“The government is imploring all well-meaning citizens to rise up and join the government in protecting the state, by resisting these unscrupulous elements and their advances.
“We are calling on parents and guardians to caution their children and wards not to allow themselves to be used for violence.
“Let us remember that we have no other state, and we should not allow mercenaries destroy our peace and collective heritage.”
