Unperturbed that 2015 general election is far-away, a governorship hopeful in Delta state, Prof. Victor Amechi Izegbu, has started consulting some South African experts on how to end power outage currently bedeviling the state.
Besides, he said adequate water and power supply, agricultural and industrial sectors would be developed via strategic Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) initiatives.
Izegbu, a Professor of Urological Surgery, who said he has the master-key to the epileptic power supply since the state was created over 23 years ago, urged the people of the state to be patient till he unfolds his blueprint for the development of the state.
The aspirant, who is a native of Asaba, in Oshimili South Local Government of the state with the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Olejeme, told PDP Stakeholders from the 25 council areas of the state in Asaba, yesterday, that “there will be power summit immediately I assume office.”
He explained that the summit would finetune and ensure steady power supply within the first 12 months of his assumption of office.
He said, “my 10-Point Plan includes the provision of unprecedented level of security statewide guaranteeing safety of life and property.
“My plan is also to make Delta state the only state in the country that will be corruption free. I’m already consulting with a very large security expert in South Africa on how to provide adequate security to Delta state.”
Through what he termed “Economic Transformation Council”, which he explained would be independent of the State Executive Council (SEC), “I intend to tackle poverty across the state.”
Also on his plan as a medical officer, is the provision of quality primary healthcare across the state with emphasis on maternal and child care. “I want to see a state where all Deltans are united in every way, irrespective of language or place of origin”.
Prof Victor Izegbu hopes that Deltans will be willing for change and work with him towards making Delta a better place.
He advised his supporters to discountenance the rumours of a candidate being already chosen and anointed for the position even before the primaries. He assured nobody has the sole power to bring out a candidate, so, he is determined to go through the primaries with optimism.
