Death toll in Rivers cult clash rises to 18

The death toll in the cult clash in Rivers State has risen to 18.
The initial figure from the clash at Omoku, the headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state, was put at six by the Rivers State Police Command.
It later rose to 15 early on Saturday, with three more confirmed dead later in the day.
The clash took place on Friday night.
Among those killed by in the clash allegedly between Icelanders and another cult group were a couple and two brothers of the same parents.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the clash and the death of six persons only.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Ahmad Muhammad, confirmed the development.
Muhammad said: “The incident is reasonably believed to be battle of supremacy between rival cult groups in the town (Omoku).
“As it is now, the situation is under control as more anti-riot policemen have been drafted to reinforce the existing security in the town.
“As for the casualties, six dead bodies of the suspected cultists were recovered.”
