An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State has remanded a 24-year-old man, Ebuka Ibe, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his neighbour.
The Magistrate, F. D Hughes, did not take Ibe’s plea for want in jurisdiction when he was brought to court on Tuesday.
She adjourned the case until April 17 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Ibe, who resides at 16, Eyitayo Street, Ajao Estate, Lagos, is charged with rape.
The prosecutor, Inspector Samuel Mishozunnu, told the court that the offence was committed on February 18 at the defendant’s residence.

The prosecutor said that Ibe raped his neighbour, a 20-year-old woman, while she was asleep.
The prosecutor said that Ibe crawled into to the victim’s bed at night and raped her.
Mishozunnu said the victim’s neighbours called for help.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened the provisions of Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
