A member of the National Conference and delegate from Plateau State, Bulus Dareng, has expressed confidence that the outcome of the conference would be able to address the current security challenges in Nigeria.
Da Bulus Dareng, who was the campaign director for President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2011 campaign organization, told reporters in Jos, the Plateau State capital, that one of the issues well discussed at the confab was that of grazing reserves.
Dareng said: “No land for grazing.
“Our population has outgrown that.
“We told those agitating for it to build ranches where you can keep your cows in one place and feed them just as it is done to other livestock.
“Agitating for grazing reserves would create problems with farmers.
“So we advised that those who want to create grazing land should do it in their states, depending on their capacity and it should not be imposed on anybody.”
Speaking on the establishment of Islamic banking, Dareng advised that the move should not be seen as an avenue to bring division among Christians and Muslims.
He said: “Muslims have decided that they prefer to run an interest free-banking but we Christians prefer to run our banking with interest, but if we now decide that look let us also approach it in the other way round, by running Christian banking, it is allowed.
“That is economic based world and it can be done with understanding.
