The people of Tuomo in Burutu Local Government Area and Egbo-Ayakoromor in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday hailed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for building bridges and fly-overs across the state.
The non-stop works on Asaba and Sapele/Effurun inter-change double lane and fly-overs, according to the governor, would serve as gateways to coastal communities and their neighbouring states.
Uduaghan described them as “key to his rural-urban integration and urbanization programmes”.
The Governor’s Commissioner for Works, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, who hails from Burutu, flanked by elders and leaders of the communities, during inspection of the projects in Tuomo on Monday, said the projects would definitely ease access and boost socio-economic growth of his people.
Funkekeme, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Engr. Donatus Umukoro, specifically ordered the contracting firm handling Foukounu Bridge to increase its pace of work.
He said his boss, who is fully committed to bringing the dividends of democracy to the people of the state, would not tolerate any defaulting contractor by April ending.
Speaking in his native tongue, the commissioner, who lauded Governor Uduaghan for financing the projects to their advanced stage, enjoined his people to remain peaceful and support developmental efforts of the Uduaghan-led Peoples Democratic Party administration.
While he urged the contracting firms handling the projects to accelerate the pace of work by mobilizing effectively to site, Funkekeme said the projects must be completed for commissioning by April ending.
