Being the address of President Muhammadu Buhari on the occasion of Nigeria’s 60th independence anniversary
There are many ways in which Nigeria is a miracle.
In order to achieve these objectives, certain fundamental things must happen, prominent amongst which are: patriotism, accountability and a social system that gives opportunities and advantages to people on the basis of their ability rather than their family background, political connection, religious, social or ethnographic considerations, etc.
The story of the creation of the homogenous Ijaw state remains very inspiring and emotional, which has given the people a more defining identity in the Nigerian State. The young, women and men participated actively in the long processes that led to the birth of Bayelsa State by the instrumentality of the authority of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
The size and magnitude of the road projects notwithstanding, the clamour by Nigerians for more motorable roads is not abating, and neither is the President Muhammadu Buhari Government’s commitment to delivering on an improved national road network, which it inherited at different stages of disrepair from previous administrations. When there is a will, as the adage goes, there will be a way or two.
An estimated 2,000 people enter Lagos every day, many ending up in informal settlements like Obalende. It was founded as an artisan village in the late 19th century by immigrants from a prominent ethnic group as this remains largely disputed with different understanding emerging. As its population swelled and land ran out, they moved on to the water. Today, Obalende is home to people from a variety of riverine communities along Nigeria’s coast.
In 2016, the party that succeeded the Peoples Democratic Party, that is the All Progressives Congress, and its leaders who had lied to Nigerians that there was no fuel subsidy in the country, but unconscionable theft, and that the Jonathan government was wrong, promptly increased fuel prices. They argued that a fuel subsidy regime was not sustainable: the same argument that they opposed in 2012
Each time Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, boots a penalty kick into throw-in, I begin to ponder the importance of secondary school education as a useful tool for political leadership.
First as a Christian, who is aware of the imminent second coming of Jesus for judgement; A child and mother and member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries/participant at the “Corridor Prayer” and what I have witnessed.
People have issues with the Buhari Government, many legitimately, many out of political necessity. Hence, discourse in public domain is stripped of factual reasoning and analysis. As somebody involved in the railway sector, it is important I drop few comments and clarifications.
It is interesting that the Peoples Democratic Party, its candidate, Governor Obaseki, and the Chairman of the party’s Campaign Council for Edo State, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, all of who had initially alleged the APC had perfected the rigging of the poll, suddenly turned round, after seeing the results being declared going its way, to say the election was now the best thing to have happened since Nigeria’s independence and that INEC had redeemed its seeming sullen image.
Criticism, when adequately weaponised, is the hub of administrative success. That’s why it’s hard to hear of any progressive democratic administration that didn’t thrive on the back of constructive criticism. Frankly, before any administration could be termed successful, modern and representative enough; there should be an institutionalized systemic diehard opposition before and beside it.

Before then, oil prices had hit $143 per barrel, and stabilized at $100 per barrel for a long time. But I was being told there was no money.
