Nigeria’s real Gross Domestic Product has grown by 2.57 per cent in the second quarter of 2015, compared with the preceding quarter. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that GDP is the monetary value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country’s borders in a specific time period. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Anastasia Nwaobia, on Wednesday said N511.8 billion was shared among the federal, states and local governments as revenue for July, 2015. Nwaobia announced this in Abuja when she addressed newsmen on the outcome of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee meeting. She said the shared amount comprised the month’s net statutory revenue of N433.5 billion. The University of Lagos said a total of 17,935 candidates of the 31,955 that sat for its 2015 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination recently passed the screening exercise. Detectives attached to the Inspector General of Police Special Task Force on Pipeline Vandalism have arrested 11 suspects, including three managing directors of three petrol stations, in connection with vandalism at the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. One of the three men arrested for drug trafficking by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has revealed that a N15 million debt and an eye blinded by armed robbers led him into cocaine trafficking.
