As labour insists on N65, meeting delegates arrive Aso Rock

The meeting between government and labour over the withdrawal of subsidy is almost set to commence in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Popularly called Aso Rock, delegates to the meeting have started arriving.

Among those who arrived early were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who drove himself, Hon. Tambuwal (he was not at the last meeting); his deputy who came in with him, EmekaIhedioha; the Sokot State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Wamako; Governor Murtala Nyako; the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dizeani Allison-Madueke; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Usman; The Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; her Labour counterpart, Emeka Wogu; and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke.

Others who have arrived for the meeting include the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim; the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola; and his Rivers State colleague, Rotimi Amaechi.

The meeting, which is holding at the First Lady Wing of the State House, will also have in attendance representatives of organised labour.

Earlier at its National Executive Council meeting this evening, the Nigeria Labour Congress confirmed an earlier report by The Eagle Online today that it was not going to shift its ground on the price of petrol being N65.

The NLC NEC has told its representative to the meeting that it is either the government reverts to N65 or the mass action that grounded the nation for the better part of this week resumes on Monday.

NLC declared today and tomorrow strike-free day to enable Nigerians stock up for another round of strike if government refuses to revert to N65 as the cost of petrol.
