The All Progressives Congress in Iwo, Osun state has congratulated the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, over the success of the annual Egungun Festival in the ancient city.
The party Chairman in Iwo, Alhaji Semiu Ayofe Raifu, in a statement on Tuesday described the 2018 edition of the festival as unique, adding that the monarch has added glamour to the annual celebration through his unique style.
Raifu assured the monarch of the support of the party, adding that the APC recognises the progress that has been recorded since the emergence of Oba Akanbi as the Oluwo of Iwo.
He said: “On behalf of the entire members of the All Progressives Congress in Iwo, I congratulate the Kabiesi. We want use this occasion to assure our royal father that the party is solidly behind him and his unique style of doing things.
“We also use the opportunity to appeal to our people in Iwo to shun violence and other forms of vices. As we approach election time, we appeal to our royal father to use his good offices to tame trouble makers. The APC remains the party to beat in Osun. The government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has done us proud and we are sure that the people of this state are poised to elect the candidate of the party, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola come September 22.”
