Several lives have reportedly been claimed in another violent shooting incident on Thursday in the Ifete area of Awka, near the gate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
This tragic incident is coming just five days after a similar attack in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, which left 12 people dead.
According to eyewitnesses, no fewer than seven bodies were seen scattered in the area after the attack.
Describing how the shooting caused panic, forcing many to flee the area, one witness, a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, said, “I saw at least seven dead bodies on my way home.”
Some of the victims were identified as tricycle operators, raising suspicions that the shooting may be linked to cult-related violence.
