The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has lambasted a former Minister of Aviation, over the tweet linking him (Amaechi) to the N15 billion recovered in a house in Lagos.
Amaechi, who replied through his media aide, David Iyofor, described the allegation by Fani-Kayode, the spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization in 2015, as the purveyor of fake news.
Iyofor said: “FAKE NEWS. Show us the title documents with Amaechi’s name as the owner or shut up. When normal peeps talk, this one also want to talk. SMH (Shaking My Head).
“Someone will just sniff something then comes on Twitter to rant incomprehensible nonsense. Some fellows really need help, serious help.
“Lying out rightly to defame someone is not politics but pure madness. I just hope someone has not stop taking his meds.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Wednesday discovered $43 million, £27,800 and N23 million from an apartment in the Ikoyi, Lagos State.
Fani-Kayode said the flat and the money belongs to Amaechi.
He tweeted: “The $43 million is Rotimi Amaechi’s. He owns the flat it was found in too. NIA (National Intelligence Agency) story is fake news! NIA does not keep cash in Minister’s flats!”
