A group of sons and daughters of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State in Manchester, United Kingdom, the Ikot-Ekpene Patriots, has endorsed the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, to vie for the senatorial seat of the region after the expiration of his tenure in 2015 so as to bring his wealth of experience to bear for the benefit of Nigerians.
The group, which made the call in Manchester, described Akpabio’s achievements as governor as exceptional, saying he has brought “unparalleled development” to Akwa Ibom State, a reason for which they said made them endorse Akpabio for the Senate.
According to the organiser, Francis Okoemu, a security and terrorism expert based in Manchester: “Akpabio as a result of his unprecedented achievements in education, health and infrastructural development in the state is the best governor in Nigeria.”
Okoemu noted that Akwa Ibom State people were lucky to have such a governor.
The patriots noted that Akpabio was too young to retire from politics and that he needed to serve Nigerians more, calling on him to ignore threats and intimidation from the “under-performing” current holder of the Senate seat, Senator Aloysius Etok, by vying for the seat.
“Akpabio, we believe in you: we are eternally grateful for the uncommon transformation that has occurred in Akwa Ibom and the developmental strides taken under your governorship. We support you without reservation,” they said.
