Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state has tasked the Niger Delta Development Commission on projects execution, insisting that the commission must enlist the services of reputable contractors if quality jobs are to be delivered.
Akpabio stated this at a thanksgiving service in honour of the Executive Director, Projects, NDDC, Engineer Edikan Eshett, at the Glorious Life Gospel Church International, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Obong Nisma Ekere, urged the commission to use world class contractors so as to build world class and sustainable infrastructure in the region.
“Don’t compromise standard in projects delivery, if you must develop the Niger Delta,” he said.
He called on all stakeholders to join hands with the NDDC in moving the region forward.
Eshett promised that the board and management of the NDDC are united to achieve its set goals.
Eshett stated that the understanding among the board and management of the commission is bound to bring about unprecedented infrastructural and human development in the region.
“I stand here to confess that the NDDC board, as currently constituted, is made up of men of impeccable character willing to work together as a team to bring about rapid transformation of the region,” he said.
In his sermon titled ‘The Wisdom of Handling Leadership God’s Way,’ the General Overseer of the church, Evangelist Godwin Akpan, called on the NDDC board to apply God’s wisdom in their service to the Niger Delta region.
