Akinwunmi retains Lagos FA seat

Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has retained his position as the chairman of the Lagos State Football Association.
Akinwunmi, who doubles at the first vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation, was returned unopposed in an election that held on Tuesday in Epe Division of the state.
Also back in the saddle is Akinwunmi’s Vice Chairman, Alhaji Tade Azeez, who in similar fashion was returned unopposed to the LSFA board.
Other members who were returned unopposed are Mojeed Adegbindin, Wale Joseph, Olatunde Green and Barrister Ifalade Oyekan.
Ekerin Adedotun Coker polled 12 votes, Moses Adebanjo polled 10 votes, Alhaji Liameed Gafaar, who is the chairman of 36 Lion FC, got nine votes to get elected as board members of the association.
The Chairman of the Lagos State Coaches Association, Moses Adeagbo, was the only casualty as he lost the race with only five votes in the election conducted by Barrister Kehinde Iroche-led Electoral Committee.
The new board members wee sworn into office after the elections.
An elated LSFA boss, Akinwunmi, in his acceptance speech commended the free and fair poll conducted by the Electoral Committee.
He said the association would not renege in the development of the round leather game from the grassroots.
He said: “I want to thank everyone for contributing the to the growth of this association.
“I say a big thank you to the board members, the members of staff and other stakeholders.
“However, I want to assure you that you have seen nothing in the last four years because we are going to do more to ensure the game continues to grow.”
Barrister Chris Green, a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, and Huthman Okunnu, who represented the Director of Sports, Lagos State Sports Council, were present to observe the elections.
