Abiola’s son endorses Aregnesola for second term

Abdul Abiola, one of the sons of Chief M.K.O. and Kudirat Abiola, on Wednesday in Lagos endorsed the second term bid of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State.
Aregbesola is seeking re-election in the August 9 Osun State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Addressing political correspondents in Lagos, Abiola explained that the endorsement was beyond partisan politics.
He said: “Aregbesola has done what is in line with my father’s vision for education in Nigeria, which is very germane to the development of any country.
“His education policies are not only amazing but a feat that is transforming education in Osun State to enable its students be part of the global education/computer age.
“The introduction of the free computer tablet, which encompasses all the text books for all public secondary school students in Osun, is highly commendable.”
According to him, for a state like Osun that is rated as 34th in education among states in Nigeria to come up with such programme is a feat.
Abiola said: “I met with the governor on the ‘Well of Education’ computer tablet distribution and I was amazed at how easy it had become for the students to not only read all their textbooks but to also have them free.
“I was also humbled by his ability to merge basic education in Osun State with computer education.
“Between now and 2018, Osun State will become an ICT hob in Nigeria, which is the dream of the governor.”
Abiola said that in spite of the low revenue accruing to the state, Aregbesola had created a dream in education that must not be allowed to die.
Abiola urged the electorate in Osun State to vote for their generation by ensuring that the incumbent governor was returned to complete his vision for the state.
He said: “Do not sell your future for money.
“Aregbesola’s eight-year plan for Osun will yield greater future for the people of Osun State.
“I urge you all to look outside your windows and judge.
“The significant change the governor has brought to Osun State within four years is worth giving him a second chance.”
Abiola, an accountant, described Aregbesola as a steadfast, humble and visionary leader, who should be emulated by others.
