Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has released N117 million for upkeep and accommodation fees for 25 students studying in various universities in Egypt.
This is as the Kebbi State Government, through its ministry for higher education, paid fourteen million naira for return tickets to eight Kebbi students in private Universities in India.
The state commissioner for higher education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Tunga, who made this known, explained that the eight students have completed their studies but do not have transport to return to Nigeria, hence the reason the governor assisted them: “This is out of compassion, and they are also indigenes of Kebbi, so it is not out of place for the governor to assist them.”

Tunga added that Kebbi state, within one year, has spent over two billion naira for local and international students studying in various higher institutions across the globe.
He said the gesture aimed to boost the academic and moral excellence of Kebbi state students, saying the ministry remains indebted to the governor for promoting education.
