Nasarawa United on Thursday failed to honour their rescheduled Week 35 game against Giwa FC in Abuja.
The League Management Company postponed the game twice last week as Giwa FC refused to show up in Abuja despite Nasarawa FC’s presence at the match venue.
Aminu Musa, the Head Coach of Giwa FC, told newsmen that he was following the orders of the management of the club, adding that he was told to prepare his team for the game on Thursday.
Musa said: “I am a coach and all I do is follow instructions.
“We came here to play and did not see Nasarawa United.
“So, I did not understand and I asked my team manager and he told me that the match would no longer hold today.
“So, we will wait and find out what happens.”
Isaac Danladi, the Chairman, Nasarawa United FC, said his club had written a protest letter over the decision to replay the match.
Danladi said: “The rules are clear.
“If a team failed to show up for their game, they will be walked over.
“We don’t want to believe the league body has ordered for a replay of a game for which walkover formalities was performed.
“We travelled to Jos for the game and we had arrived in Jos before the LMC communicated the postponement of the game.
“All logistics and funds were wasted.
“Also, last week, for the peace of the game, we stayed two days in Abuja to honour the game, but our host failed to show up.
“The match officials, according to the rules, walked over Giwa FC.
“Even the league body on their official website awarded the result to us.”
