Delta LG polls: Crisis in Udu as two candidates parade DSIEC forms

A group, under the aegis of the Concerned Udu Political Forum (CUPF) on Sunday threatened to resist an alleged fraud perpetrated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State Chapter and State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC).

The group wondered why the ruling party in connivance with the commission denied Udu Local Government Area of peace in the just concluded primary election of the party.

While the group accused PDP of manipulating the authentic list, it also accused DSIEC for selling forms to two different councillorship candidates per ward and two chairmanship candidates after the primaries.

In a written a petition addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, dated September 5, 2014, signed by the chairman and secretary of the group, Comrades Gabriel Onoriode and Onome Thomas, respectively, the group claimed that after the primaries, two candidates started parading similar forms.

The body called for probe into the matter, even as it heaped the crisis on the undue interference of the leadership of the party in the state, including the state PDP chairman, Chief Peter Nwaoboshi and Chief Ighoyota Amori, the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who were said to have connived to mortgage the interest of the party and replaced the authentic list submitted by the party with another one.

“After the LG primaries, a duly signed and harmonized list was sent to the party Chairman by the Delta Deputy State Chairman, Delta Central, Chief Tom Amioku. But to our greatest surprise, our commercial party chairman who has consistently mortgaged the interest of the party for his parochial financial benefit in connivance with the political Adviser changed the list, collecting money left, right and center’’

The group vowed not to watch PDP being hijacked by political money bags, it maintained that Nwaoboshi rather than build a solid political structure for the party has continued to impose candidates on the LGs party executives while those who dare to confront him are blackmailed out of the system just as it maintained that their party leadership and elders in Udu has failed them for allowing the broad day light robbery to be accepted.
