The Ogun State Police Command said it had recovered the head of the two-year-old child who was beheaded at Ofada village in Obafemi Owode Loal Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, Muyiwa Adebajo, stated this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Thursday.
The police arrested a suspected ritual killer on April 1 for beheading a baby after raping the mother.
The suspect however failed to disclose where the head was or what he did with it.
Adebajo said that on Tuesday, the suspect led a police investigation team to a bush in Mokola area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where the head was recovered from a bush.
Adebajo, who said the suspect had confessed to the crime, added that he was still concealing some information on the other members of his gang.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ikemefuna Okoye, had directed that efforts be intensified to apprehend the other members of the gang and “those who buy such materials”.
