The Club Owners Association on Wednesday said the suspension of Nembe City and Giwa FC of Jos from the Glo Premier League by the League Management Company would soon be resolved.
The association’s Acting Secretary, Alloy Chukwuemeka, gave the assurance to football fans in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
NAN reports that LMC had on March 6 excluded the two clubs from participating in the ongoing league because they had yet to comply with the regulatory body’s registration requirements.
Chukwuemeka said: “Yes, we met with the management of Nembe City FC and Giwa FC.
“We also met with the leadership of the LMC led by its Chairman, Nduka Irabor.
“The meeting lasted till the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
“As you know, ours is an intervention as well as in solidarity with our colleagues and how to solve the issue on ground.
“I can say the meetings were fruitful as we have been able to negotiate a window that will allow the affected clubs to be officially informed about their shortcomings.
“Such shortcomings may have led to the exclusion as well as the opportunity to appeal the decision at the Nigerian Football Association for consideration.
“We are at peace with all the parties concerned and we are sure of a positive outcome.”
Chukwuemeka had on Tuesday declared that the LMC lacked the power to exclude the two clubs from the league, adding that it was only the NFA that has such authority.
