The three universities in Ondo State on Monday resumed normal academic activities in compliance with the Federal Government’s directives.
Adebanjo Adegbenro, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, told the News Agency of Nigeria that it had complied with government’s directive to university lecturers.
According to Adegbenro, the institution has resumed since last week and everything has been put in place to ensure that normal academic activities resume this week.
Also at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, the PRO, Victor Akinpelumi, said both students and lecturers resumed at the school since two weeks ago.
Akinpelumi said: “We don’t have any problems here.
“Our students and lecturers have resumed and academic work has commenced in earnest.”
The Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, did not join the strike.
The institution’s PRO, Yinka Adekalu, said the school did not have any union in place “and since our lecturers are not members of any union, we have no problems”.
The Federal Government gave the striking university lectures up to Monday to call off their six-month old strike over non implementation of an agreement signed in 2009 or be sacked.
