Edo election not over yet — Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said the September 19, 2020 governorship election was not over yet despite the Independent National Electoral Commission having announced Governor Godwin Obaseki, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, as the winner.

The former Lagos State Governor spoke through his Media Adviser, Alhaji Tunde Rahman, on the election lost by the candidate of his party, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Tinubu said his position was predicated on that of Ize-Iyamu, who posited he was yet to decide on the next step.

He said in the article, with the title: “Asiwaju Tinubu and Edo Election,” penned by Rahman, a former Editor of Thisday on Sunday: “The tension-soaked Edo governorship election may have been concluded with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcing Governor Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the poll.

“However, one is not unmindful of the fact that the election may not have been completely over as it were.

“Obaseki’s main challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, says he is still studying the result and consulting widely on his next line of action.

“This is within his sphere to do.”
