The media reports that some of the firms indicted by the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on fuel subsidy scam have again been awarded contract by the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Authority to lift fuel is false, the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Dezani Alison-Madueke, has said.
Speaking with State House correspondents Thursday, the Minister said that all the successful companies were thoroughly screened prior to been cleared to import fuel, insisting the reports are totally false.
Madueke said: “That is not possible.
“I believe you are referring to the listing of companies by the PPPRA for importation of fuel.
“All companies were vetted carefully and only companies that were clearly cleared were put on the list.”
The Minister also spoke about the Petroleum Industry Bill presently before the National; Assembly, expressing satisfaction with the progress being made.
She said it is in tandem with the expectations of the executive on the passage of the Bill.
Her words: “There will be different views.
“There will always be different stakeholders whose views are brought to bear when there is a document of such critical importance and once it enters the purview of the legislature, it is expected that different views will be heard and at the end of the day, the expectation is that the document that comes out will represent a fairly win situation for all stakeholders for the betterment and for the good of the entire economy and the entire polity.
“The National Assembly is making progress on the bill.
“They have started public hearing and I think it is moving along in the manner that we expect it to move.”
