The draw for the 2019 Ondo State FA Cup competition was held on Thursday in Akure involving nine clubs, with Sunshine Stars Football Club drawn against its feeders team.
The draw, held at the Ondo State Sports Complex, was conducted by Dele Ajayi, the state Football Association chairman, who was represented by an FA Board member, Moses Fadoju.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the draw has Akure United FC pitched against EES Snipers FC in the first match of the fixtures on April 9.
Matchday 2 will see Sunshine Stars FC take on their feeders team, the Rising Stars FC of Akure who play in the Nationwide League One on April 11 for a slot in the semi-finals.
Also, Alhaji Dada FC will take on CFAS FC.
On April 16, last year’s finalists Akure City FC will lock horns with newcomers L & B FC.
NSCDC FC will also face the winners of Akure United versus Snipers FC fixture, ahead of the semi-finals which begin on April 23.
The two finalists will represent Ondo State at the national competition, the Aiteo Cup.
Sunshine Stars had won the competition again in 2018, after a 1-0 victory over Akure City FC.
Speaking at the end of the draw ceremony, Ajayi advised clubs which are newcomers to the competition not to see themselves as underdogs but rather as giantkillers.
