The Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has been sacked by an Abuja High Court.
The committee, headed by Godspower Ake, is believed to be completely loyal to the state Governor, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
The sacking of the executive committee on Monday, by the court presided over by Justice Ishaq Bello, is believed to be a fallout of the face-off between Amaechi and the Presidency.
Bello, in the ruling, went on to recognize the executive committee led by Felix Obuah.
Obuah is a loyalist of the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, who is from Rivers State.
Obuah had gone to court to challenge Ake’s election at the state congress held in February 2011.
Amaechi and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan have been at loggerheads for some time now.
An initial fallout of the face-off, many believe, was the splitting of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, which Amaechi heads, with the creation of the PDP Governors’ Forum, headed by the Akwa Ibom State Governor and ally of President Jonathan, Barrister Godswill Akpabio.
