The Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, on Tuesday thanked the Enugu State Government for assisting it to host the 19th All Polytechnics Senior Staff Games.
The Games is popularly known as the National Board for Technical Education and Nigerian Polytechnics Senior Staff Games Association.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 10-day competition featured 12 sports and ended on April 28.
The Rector of IMT, Prof. Austin Nweze, expressing the institution’s appreciation said that in spite of daunting challenges, it hosted the Games successfully.
Nweze thanked God and the contingent from the 42 institutions that participated for peaceful and incident-free Games.
He expressed the hope that the annual Games had relaxed and rested the participants adequately in the beautiful Coal City, Enugu.
He said: “I extol the organisers, participants, institutions as well as NBTE and NIPOSSGA for advancing the course of the Games and for spending 10 useful days in Enugu.
“IMT congratulates the victors and losers in the participatory spirit of the Games.
“We promise that the institution will continue to upgrade her facilities with a view to become a better host whenever it is her turn to do so again.’’
He thanked the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Uche Eze, and other top principal officers of polytechnics and colleges of technology in Nigeria for attending the closing ceremony.
The highpoint of the Games was a keenly contested final match in the football event where Federal Polytechnic, Offa, defeated Yaba College of Technology 5-4 penalties.
