Jonathan, PDP governors meet

The President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, today met with governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The meeting took place in the Presidential Villa.

Though the reason for the meeting was not stated, insiders said it must be in connection with the recent ruling of the Supreme Court that cut short the tenure of five governors elected on the platform of the party.

The governors were those of Kogi State, Bayelsa State, Sokoto State, Cross River State and Adamawa State.

Governors at the meeting included Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Theodore Orji of Abia State, Gabriel Suswam of Benue State and Abdilfatah Ahmed of Kwara State.

Others included Jonah Jang of Plateau State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State, Idris Wada of Kogi State and Sullivan Chime of Enugu State.

The acting governors of Bayelsa State, Adamawa State, Cross River State and Sokoto State were also in attendance.

Apart from the governors, others who attended the meeting were the Vice-President, Architect Namadi Sambo; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim; the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje; and the acting National Secretary of the PDP, Aljaki Shehu Babayo.

None of those at the meeting volunteered to speak with the press on the meeting.
