Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Tuesday urged stakeholders in the financial service industry to work toward assisting the country to get out of economic recession.
Ambode made the plea while playing host to the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria at Alausa Ikeja.
According to him, the financial service industry is a veritable tool that can help revive and drive the economy, especially in this time of recession.
Ambode said: “Your operations and contributions had helped to increase the Gross Domestic Products of Lagos State, and as well improve the economy, in terms of taxes and employment creation.”
Ambode assured the institute of his administrations continues support to create a business-friendly environment for investment to thrive.
Earlier, Prof. Segun Ajibola, the President and chairman of CIBN Governing Council, commended Ambode’s laudable achievements in the areas of security, transportation, infrastructure and light up Lagos project.
Ajibola said that Nigeria had won the hosting right of the 22nd World Conference of Banking Institutes scheduled to hold in Lagos in April 2017.
He appealed to the governor to support the institutes financially toward successful hosting of the event.
