No fewer than 10 persons have been confirmed dead in an auto crash that occurred on Sunday evening along Ondo Road at Abata-Egba Village in Ile Ife, Osun State.
A Radio Nigeria correspondent gathered that the accident involved a truck with registration number MUS 847 XC and a Toyota commercial bus with registration number JJJ 15 XJ.
According to witnesses accounts, the two vehicles had head-on collision when one of them overtook another at a wrong position and thereby faced the oncoming vehicle.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Fimihan Adeoye, said 10 persons were confirmed dead by medical doctors and that their remains have been deposited at the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile Ife.
The Commissioner of Police, who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer for the command, Folasade Odoro, said those who sustained injuries in the accident were receiving treatment in the same hospital.
