The League Bloggers Awards on Tuesday named the shortlists to vie for the Manager and Player for the month of May in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Four coaches are in the running for the LBA Manager for May.
They are Nasarawa United’s Kabiru Dogo, Stanley Eguma of Rivers United, Abdu Maikaba of Wikki Tourists and Enyimba’s Paul Aigbogun.
The quartet had impressive outings with their respective teams for the month under review.
However, the players’ category for the award produced an interesting field of shortlists as two goalkeepers played their way into the race for the May prize.
Rivers United veteran goalkeeper, Rotimi Sunday, and Enyimba shot-stopper, Theophilus Afelokhai, have been shortlisted by the LBA to compete for the May player award with two strikers in Godwin Obaje of Wikki Tourists and Bernard Ovoke of Rivers United.
It is the first time that two goalkeepers will make the shortlist of the LBA monthly award at the same time for the Nigeria top-flight since its inception in 2009.
The winners of the Player and Manager for May will be announced later this week.
