38 killed in Kaduna, Yero appeals for calm

No fewer than 38 persons were killed on Monday night in separate attacks on two villages in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Chairman of the Council, Emmanuel Adamu, told journalists in Sanga that the attacks were carried out simultaneously.
Adamu said the gunmen unleashed mayhem on Ankpon Village in Nandu and Kabamu Village in Fadan Karshi, both of Numana District.
He said the gunmen killed 38 persons, including women and children.
“Twenty-one people were killed in Fadan Kashi, while 17 killed in Nandu,” he said.
He described the incident as unfortunate
Adamu condoled with those who lost their loved ones during the attack and urged the residents to remain calm.
He said security agencies are tracking the attackers, while measures have been adopted to forestall recurrence.
In May, seven people were killed when gunmen attacked a police outpost at Fadan Karshi.
No group has claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack.
Meanwhile, Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna State on Tuesday called for calm and condemned the attacks in Sanga Local Government Area of the state that led to loss of several lives and property.
Yero said in a statement signed by his Director-General, Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki, that the attack was “a provocative attempt by some unpatriotic people to cause confusion and unrest”.
The governor called on the people to remain calm as investigation had commenced to fish out the perpetrators.
He said: “We call on the people in Fadan Karshi and other parts of the state to remain calm as security agencies have already been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
“We should remain united and resolute in resisting obvious attempts by agents of darkness to create confusion and sow seeds of discord in our state.”
The governor also enjoined the residents of the state to continue to live in peace with one another and become more vigilant with a view to assisting security agencies with relevant information.
