Africa’s popular reality TV game show, Big Brother Africa Season 8, tagged The Chase, proudly sponsored by telecommunications services provider, Airtel, will come to an end soon after three months of an eventful game show characterized with a lots of drama, fun, sex, brawl and violence in the house. Africa now awaits the winner among the top five contestants. Who will go home with the coveted prize of $300,000? Funsho Akinwale chronicles how 20 housemates were booted out of the reality game show.
Denzel/Huddah
In less than seven days after the 28 housemates across the continent were ushered into the Big brother House, the first set of housemates to be evicted from the game show were Ugandan representative, Denzel, and Kenya’s Huddah. The pretty Kenyan had emerged as a rather strong personality as evident by her candid diary session where she held no prisoners. She was nominated for possible eviction by her housemates for her fake lifestyle among other issues. Denzel, on the other hand, was pulled to the chopping block by several of his mates because he proved to be a colorful character who entertained his fellow housemates and viewers alike with zany antics.
LK4/Koketsu
The two lovebirds, South Africa’s Koketsu and Ugandan’s LK4, were the first couple to be evicted in the Big Brother house. They were evicted in the second week of the game show. During their time in the house, many of the female housemates did not like LK4 because of his double dealing with two ladies, Kokestu and Nigeria’s Beverly. And this led to the exchange of words between Koketsu and Beverly. The misconduct of LK4 led to his early eviction from the house. The exit of the couple, however, opened the door to further relationship avenues .So strong was the relationship after the house that Koketsu had to travel to Uganda for LK4’s welcome party.
Biguseas/Neyll
The two house mates were Angola ‘s representatives. They were booted out of the game at the same time in the third week of the realty game show because their voices didn’t carry much weight amongst other fellow housemates. And that has since marked the end of the road for Angola’s chances in the competition.
Hakeem/Fatima
Zimbabwe’s Hakeem and Malawi’s representative, Fatima, were evicted in the fourth week of the game. It was Nigeria’s Melvin that put up Hakeem for possible eviction during his house leadership role’s task. Hakeem’s lover, Cleo, has emerged among the last five housemates to jostle for a winner of the grand finale. Fatima got more nominations from Africa and few from the housemates, which led to her eviction.
Betty/Motanma
Sexy Betty, the Ethiopian contestant, was evicted same week with Bostwana’s Motanma. Motanma, the scientific researcher and student, found herself on the dreaded eviction list courtesy of the then Diamond House leader, Annabel. However, the popular ‘lover girl’, Betty, was separated from her Sierra Leonean lover, Bolt, with massive African votes and was also nominated by a few of her housemates. The lovers, during the Diary session, assured Africa that they would continue their relationship outside the house.
Selly/Natasha
After spending seven weeks of entertaining Africa and their fellow chase mates with sexy dances, moves, cleaning and brawls, Selly’s and Natasha’s lucks finally ran out in the seventh week. Nevertheless, after all said and done, the two gorgeous divas have a lot to be proud of. They reached and exceeded the chase’s half way mark. This is no ordinary feat.
Bolt/Maria
Sierra Leone’s Bolt and Namibia’s representative, Maria, were evicted the same week. Bolt, the lover boy, had the chance to reunite with his Ethiopia’s lover, Betty, who was evicted a week before his eviction. Bolt was not surprised he was evicted because he had confirmed his exit some days before the eviction show. He was certain he was up for eviction. Maria, on the other hand, had never been up for eviction until the last minute through the save and replace decision of the house.
Pokello/Bassey
Zimbabwe’s second contestant, Pokello, was evicted with Sierra Leone’s Bassey in the 10th week. Pokello, the socialite and fashionista, was evicted after her fourth time of hitting the chopping block. Pokello was no doubt the darling of the viewers as they have saved her every other time she was up for eviction. Twice, she emerged the contestant with the highest votes. At one point, she bagged eight countries’ votes and that included the votes of Nigeria and Ghana.
Sulu/Annabel
Zambia’s Sulu and Kenya’s second contestant, Annabel, were both evicted after spending 63 days in the Big Brother Africa house. Sulu, before his final exit, had stayed in the house for 63 days without being on the chopping block for a single moment. Bimp had to save Zambia’s rapper, Cleo, and replaced him with fellow Zambian house mate, Sulu. Annabel was also evicted 56 days after her country’s counterpart, Huddah, was booted out in the first week of the reality TV show. Annabel was up for eviction four times but managed to survive. She couldn’t make it beyond the fourth time, just like Pokello and Natasha.
Nando
Tanzanian’s Nando was the only house mate disqualified from the game show following his violent altitude in the house. Nando was sent packing on eviction day that saw Annabel and Sulu being given the boot. Big Brother Africa reproached Nando for the fight he had with Elkem, Ghana’s only surviving contestant, who is already on his way to the final.
O’neal
Botswana’s second contestant, O’neal, was evicted after spending 74 days in the Big Brother Africa house. O’neal was up for the second time and managed to survive that week of the chase before luck ran out on him a couple of weeks back. He was the only house mate evicted that week. O’neal was also that week separated from his lover, Feza, who was then lucky enough to survive that week’s eviction.
Feza
Tanzanian’s Feza became the 20th house mate to be evicted from Big Brother Africa reality show. She was up for eviction several times but always managed to scale through. Feza was unlucky at the last eviction, which had Dillish, Angelo and Cleo still remaining in the game show.
