Three time champions of the Mark d’ ball basketball competition, Blame it on Experience, have qualified for the semifinals of this year’s event.
The team, which is the defending champions of the competition, survived the slamming and dunking powers of high-flying Suleja Rocks after a 1st quarter loss.
The Experience team, led by the likes of Stanley Gumut, Captain of Mark Mentors basketball club, bounced back in the 2nd quarter after a 6-10 loss in the 1st quarter of the game.
It won 24-14, 37-25 and 45-35 in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters to secure the ticket.
Ighoche Mark, the manager of Mark d’ball and a player of Blame it on Experience, told the News Agency of Nigeria that it was not easy overcoming Suleja Rocks.
Mark expressed optimism that the team was on the way to its fourth title in the competition.
He said: “Just like our sponsor and former Senate President, David Mark, through his foundation assured of his continuous support for the event, I assure our fans that we will win our fourth title.”
Experience had earlier defeated Otukpo Blazers 43-34 before overcoming the Suleja team.
In the female category, the National Under-17 team defeated G-to-G of Benin 26-16 to qualify.
Sweeties from Markurdi, Tin City Babes of Jos, Apa Queens of Otukpo and Future Drive of FCT are battling for the second female semi-finals ticket.
ESPN of Otukpo, Blazers also from Otukpo and Suleja Rocks are in contention for the second male semi-finals slot.
Eight male and eight female teams are participating in the ongoing Mark d’ ball basketball competition.
The competition, which began in Otukpo on December 26, is expected to end on December 31.
