The national leaders of the All Progressives Congress on Saturday said God has destined the party to rule Nigeria from 2015.
They urged the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government to forget ruling beyond 2015.
Speaking at Ifaki Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State during the 60th birthday of a former Ekiti State Governor, Chief Segun Oni, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and Oni, who is the party’s Deputy National Chairman, South West, said 2015 is God’s appointed time for the PDP to be defeated in the presidential and other elections.
The ceremony, held at Methodist Church, Ifaki Ekiti, was attended by Governor Ayo Fayose, former Niyi Adebayo, former Kayode Fayemi, former Deputy Governors Prof Modupe Adelabu Abiodun Aluko, former Acting Governor Tope Ademiluyi and ousted Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin.
Oni praised Fayose for restoring his privileges as a former governor, describing the gesture as a rare show of brotherliness.
Odigie-Oyegun described the PDP under President Goodluck Jonathan as a colossal waste to the country, lamenting that nothing could be done to rescue the PDP’s ship from sinking in 2015.
He said Nigerians were already disillusioned with the suffering the party brought into the country, expressing confidence that the PDP will be rejected in the forthcoming election.
Odigie-Oyegun said: “APC is a party whose time has come.
“APC is a party with welfarist and people-oriented programmes.
“But let me say here that youth employment will be priority on our agenda, apart from the fact that we will do everything possible to protect the lives of the Nigerian citizens.
“Whatever that will take us to end insurgency, we are going to do it.
“We are not going to steal public money the way the PDP is doing.
“Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua and the present President Goodluck Jonathan expended over $68 billion on power, but nothing was realized in terms of power generation.”
Odigie-Oyegun described Oni as a fantastic man, who has contributed immensely to the development of Ekiti State.
Oni, in his remark, said: “It is not an easy thing for political parties to sacrifice their privileges and come together to form APC.
“So, preparation for a change in 2015 does not start today.
“It has been planned for and nothing can change it.
“God Himself has ordained the APC to rule in 2015.
“This is a finger of God and it is happening like a miracle because God Himself is involved in the project.”
Oni said the party had demonstrated its sincerity to win the presidential race by embracing free and fair primaries at all levels.
He said the party will never impose candidates that are against the wishes of the populace.
