Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the Nigerian Government has been called upon to strengthen and reinforce security in violence prone areas to prevent unforeseen circumstances.
The call is made by a group of youths in Plateau State while reacting to the recent burning of President Goodluck Jonathan Campaigns bus in Jos, the state capital.
Speaking under the aegis of Youths G17 Peace and Progressive Forum, they condemned in strong terms the action.
They advised on the need for security to be beefed up during the February general elections in all the states of the federation.
In a statement issued by the Leader of the youth group, Dachung Musa Bagos, after their meeting in Jos on Friday to fashion out ways of addressing the conduct of youths during elections and made available to journalists, the condemned in totality the recent attack and burning of the campaign bus of President Jonathan at Zololo Junction, Bauchi Road, Jos
Bagos adviced politicians to call their supporters to order as Nigeria prepares for the coming elections.
He said: “We are calling on the law enforcement agencies to rise up to the challenge and bring to book all those behind the condemnable act.”
The group called on all youths in the state to be peaceful during the conduct of the elections in the state.
They said the youths must resist violence to show they are ready for leadership
The youths also endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in the state, Senator Gyang Nyam Pwajok.
They said he is also a youth like them.
