No fewer than seven persons were killed on Sunday when an explosion rocked the venue of a political meeting in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
The meeting was said to have been convened by an aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, Sabo Garubu.
The meeting was holding in the house of Garubu when the suspected bomber emerged from a bus hurriedly parked in front of the aspirant’s house and detonated the explosive.
Garubu is vying for a House of Representatives seat and it is suspected Boko Haram is behind the explosion.
Sources told The Eagle Online that no fewer than five ambulances were seen racing in the direction of Garubu’s house after the explosion.
Another source however put the number of the dead at eight.
