Kennedy Boboye, Head Coach of Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure, has offered explanations on why his team lost by three goals to nil to Kwara United of Ilorin at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The match between Sunshine Stars and Kwara United was a 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League Match Day 7 encounter.
Boboye, who spoke after his team lost 0-3 to hosts Kwara United, expressed disappointment that the pitch was unkempt ahead of the match.
He said: “I don’t know how they approved this pitch for a match like this and they didn’t cut it on this day of the match.

“The grass on this pitch was overgrown and the ball was not moving smoothly.
“That is the problem.
“But they (Kwara United) are more used to the field than us.
“The pitch contributed 75 percent to our loss.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that two first half goals from Wasiu Alalade and one from Shola Abdulraheem in the second half ensured Sunshine Stars returned home with their tails in between their legs.
