A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Uche Uraih, on Wednesday enumerated why Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State.
Uraih said Okowa will be the first Delta State man from Delta North Senatorial District to be governor of the state since it was created about 24 years ago.
Speaking in Asaba, Uraih, a former Chairman of the Board of the Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba, stated that Delta State stands on a tripod zones.
According to him, Delta Central and Delta South have had their slots of the governorship of the state and it is logical that Delta North should produce the next governor of the state.
He said: “Delta State stands on a tripod and as an Anioma man, it is right that after 24 years of state creation, Anioma man should be elected as Governor of Delta State, this is not too much to ask from all Deltans.
“Senator Okowa is eminently qualified and don’t forget, Delta Central has had it twice in Olorogun Felix Ibru and Chief James Ibori, Delta South had it once in the present Governor, Dr. Uduaghan, and for equity and fairness, North should have it.”
The politician noted that his support for Senator Okowa’s gubernatorial interest was not only based on the fact that he has a clinical understanding of the state but because he is from a district that has not had a shot at the governorship position.
“I believe as an Anioma man, I should always be by my people and I am excited that we are producing the governor of Delta State come April 11. He is qualified and understands the state more than other candidates,” Uraih added.
