UNIFEMGA holds education summit

The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, is to host a national education summit facilitated by the Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association in Abuja on November 28.

In a statement by the Chairman of the planning committee, Abdulbasit Bakare, the summit will hold at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Central Area, Abuja from 8am.

Bakare said the summit, which has the theme: “Nigeria’s Education Sector-Transforming into the 21st century with Content, Quality and Global Recognition,” would be witnessed by stakeholders in the education sector.

He said Prof. Musa Aibinu of the Federal University of Technology, Minna will deliver a paper on a sub-theme: “Creating and sustaining a qualitative pool of education sector professionals – Solution options.”

According to him, Dr. M. A. Kazaure, the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Kaduna, will deliver another paper on: “Educational curricula aligned with Nigeria’s talent/competitive advantage and industrial/economic growth.”

Bakare said Alhaji Ahmed Tunde Popoola, the Managing Director of CRC Credit Bureau, Lagos, will talk on: “The challenge of funding Nigeria’s Education sector for citizens affordability – Solution options.”

UNIFEMGA said the summit was geared towards proffering solutions to some observed inadequacies in the education system in Nigeria, especially in the area of content and quality.

Over 350 stakeholders in education sector are expected to grace the one-day summit.

It would be recalled that UNIFEMGA at its maiden summit had as its theme: “Towards Future Manpower Planning: New Strategies in Education for the Muslim Ummah.”
