A former leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta state, Sir Tony Obuh, was on Wednesday sworn in as a Commissioner.
Also, sworn in was Charles Emetulu, the Governor’s former Commissioner for Power, who also resigned to contest the governorship primaries of the PDP.
Obuh, who put in 32 years in the state’s civil service, resigned as the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Asaba.
He lost the race on December 8 last year during the Peoples Democratic Party primary election to Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
His growing influence dropped after Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who allegedly played him up in the politics of the state, withdrew his support 48 hours to the contest.
Although, the governor has not attached any portfolio to Obuh, The Eagle Online learnt that he may emerge as the state’s Commissioner for Finance.
For two years now, the office of the Commissioner for Finance had been vacant after the unceremonious exit of Chief Bernard Okomagba.
Uduaghan merged the office with that of the Commissioner for Economic Planning, headed by Chief Kenneth Okpara.
Emetulu was to be the option “B” in the calculation of the search for Uduaghan’s successor.
