Third Youth All Africa Games: CAA appoints Nesiama to officiate in athletics events

Omatseye Nesiama, a former Technical Director, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, has been appointed by the Confederation of African Athletics to officiate at the forthcoming 3rd Youth All Africa Games.
The Championships is scheduled for July 19 to July 28 in Algiers.
Nesiama told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Lagos that he would bring his experience to bear to ensure that the athletics event of the championships was a success.
He said: “The competition will see me bringing my experiences to bear as the competition Director of the 1st African Youth Athletics Championships.
“Other competencies gained over time will also be used in giving the track and field aspect of the Games a good showing to the delight of all.’’
He also said he would ensure a good representation to show that Nigerians were competent to officiate and manage competitions not only continentally but internationally.
Nesiama said he would do his best to pave way for more Nigerians to be considered to officiate internationally.
NAN reports that a letter by Lamine Faty, CAA’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “I have the pleasure to inform you that you have been appointed by the CAA as ITO on the occasion of the 3rd Youth All Africa Games to be held in Algiers”.
It added: “In this respect, your transportation will be covered by the Local Organising Committee and an air ticket will be sent to you in due time.’’
NAN reports Nesiama was appointed into the CAA ITO for a duration of 2018 to 2022.
He was the Competition Director for the maiden African Youth Athletics Championship held in 2013 in Warri which was adjudged to have set the standard for similar competitions in Africa.
Nesiama’s rising profile in international technical officiating got him an invitation as a Resource Person to the refresher course for National Technical Officials in Nigeria on the New IAAF Technical Rules in 2017.
