Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, will deliver the 2014 annual reunion lecture of Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association on May 10.
A statement by the National President of UNIFEMGA, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, and National Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, said the lecture would hold at the prestigious Oduduwa Hall, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The lecture will be a part of the three-day National Re-Union event of the Association from May 9 to 11.
Tambuwal will speak on: “Islam and Good Governance: Nigerian Legislative Agenda,” while Prof. Tale Omole, the Vice Chancellor of OAU, will be the Chief Host.
“This year’s lecture is UNIFEMGA’s contribution to the ongoing national discourse on good governance as exemplified by Islam using the instrumentality of the legislature,” the statement said.
Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Secretary-General, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, will chair the occasion, while Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Governor of Osun State, is the Special Guest of Honour.
The statement added that Prof. AbdulMajeed Alabi, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly and a Political Scientist at the University of Ilorin, will be the Guest Discussant.
Other highlights of the re-union include the award of N2.8 million scholarships to 50 OAU students, making a total of N13.7 million scholarships so far disbursed to 254 students.
Equally, the reunion will feature empowerment programme for the graduating students, family retreat, novelty match as well as facility tour to the multi-purpose OAU central mosque under construction and UNIFEMGA hostel.
