An FCT High Court in Maitama on Thursday ordered Olisa Metuh, a former PDP spokesman, accused of destruction of evidence to enter his defence.
The ongoing trial of former Peoples Democratic Party Spokesman, Olisa Metuh, over alleged N400 million fraud was on Wednesday stalled at the Federal High Court, Abuja due to the absence of his counsel in court.
Metuh, who expressed shock over the development, said he learnt of the no-debit order placed on his account after his failed transaction on one of the accounts on Tuesday.
It will be recalled that the court had ruled on May 23 that the matter would go on in Metuh’s absence since he was absent in court on May 22 without any reasonable explanation.
Counsel to the EFCC, Sylvanus Tahir, made the request in an application at the resumed trial following Metuh’s absence in court.
Sylvanus Tahir, counsel to the EFCC, who made the application at the resumption of hearing of the matter on Tuesday at the Federal High Court, Abuja, said Metuh should be remanded in prison.
Although the defendants were ready to take on an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission operative, David Nkpe, who appeared as the 10th prosecution witness on Friday, counsel for the the prosecution, Sylvanus Tahir, again pleaded with the judge, just as he did on Wednesday
