The Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action has trained Nigerian Correctional Service officers on Non-Custodial Measures in the Federal Capital Territory on guidelines for the supervision of offenders serving non-custodial sentence and punishment of violators during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The development of the guidelines was supported by the Rule of Law and Anti Corruption project of the British Council and funded by the European Union.
Following the confirmation of more cases of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) in Nigeria and its rapid spread across the globe, the Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action has called on the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to quickly collate data on petty offenders and ensure that such persons are released from Custodial Centres immediately.
