According to a statement by LAWNAC, signed by  Chika Igwe, the Program Officer, the Injustice Awards was designed to identify and showcase individuals within the judiciary, whose actions and inactions frustrate or pervert the course of justice nationwide.

This followed the release of a video showing  Umar and a member of his entourage assaulting a security guard. LAWNAC said Umar’s action amounts to gross misconduct and must be addressed to safe guide the image of the judiciary.
