On a post on his verified page on twitter @atiku on Monday, entitled ‘Darkness Awaits Us If We Do Not End the Attacks on Our Citadels of Learning’, the former vice president decried the recent attack and abduction of students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olasunkanmi Olaleye, made available to newsmen on Monday, the State Government saluted Oyo teachers for being partners in the drive to promote qualitative education in the State.

In Nigeria, the children of the rich and wealthy have access to the best schools, good teachers, and resources while the children of the poor are taught by unqualified absentee teachers and sometimes have to study under trees and leaking roofs. Children from poor families also skip schools regularly because they have to help their families with farm work, hawking, or selling wares in the shops and market to assist in sustaining their families.
