Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, will lead other prominent Islamic leaders to declare open the 100th edition of the Islamic Vacation Course of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria on Saturday.
In a statement by the B-Zone Coordinator of MSSN, Mushafau Alaran, the Course will hold from December 23, 2015 to January 1, 2016 at the Society Permanent Site, Km 30 Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, Imolisa Village, Ogunmakin, Ogun State.
The statement stated Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN) will chair the occasion, while the Governors of Ogun, Oyo and Osun States would be the Special Guests of Honour.
Alaran said Prof. AbdulHafis Oladosu of the University of Ibadan and a former National President of the Society will deliver the lecture with the theme of the IVC: “The Victorious,”
The formal opening, according to the statement, will equally witness the attendance of legislators, Ministers, Islamic clerics, past leaders of the MSSN, students, artisans and workers.
“Islamic Vacation Course is a programme invented by the Society in 1967 to actualise the mission, vision and objective of the society,” Alaran said.
He said one of its objectives is “to bring all Muslims into closer union, to foster the good spirit of brotherhood, to encourage the proper understanding of Islam through a series of educative programme and to assist in fighting the cause of the oppressed.
“The 11-day programme will not only be a spiritual training ground, but will incorporate vocational training, the production of gas through the waste (biogas) and ICT training for both the children and the adults.”
Over 5,000 delegates, cutting across primary, post-primary, tertiary institutions, artisans and the working class from the 17 Southern states are expected to participate in the vacation course.
